TOSHIBA PROVIDES TECHNOLOGY UPGRADE FOR MASSACHUSETTS NONPROFIT HELPING DEVELOPMENTALLY DISABLED
Today, Toshiba America Business Solutions, Inc. (http://business.toshiba.com) delivered $31,000 of new technology to one of the winners of its second annual Helping the Helpers Technology Makeover, Woburn, Mass. nonprofit, NuPath.
To celebrate its good fortune, the charity - located nine miles from Boston - is having a ribbon-cutting event at its headquarters Tuesday, July 9th at 8 a.m. EST. The charity provides people with developmental disabilities throughout Massachusetts the support necessary to live, work and grow to their fullest potential.
To commemorate the event while recognizing the positive impact of NuPath and Toshiba throughout the state, Massachusetts State Representatives, Jay Kaufman and James Dwyer are delivering a joint citation to acknowledge both organizations.
"For 45 years, NuPath has provided the support and guidance necessary for those with developmental disabilities to live rich and purposeful lives," said Representative Kaufman. "I am pleased Toshiba - through its Helping the Helpers Technology Makeover contest - is stepping up to provide worthy nonprofits with the latest in technology to better allow these charities to fulfill their missions."
Representative Dwyer stated, "As a former member of the board of directors at NuPath, I saw firsthand the important need for services and programs for the developmentally disabled. For more than four decades, NuPath has uplifted this very important segment of our society by teaching them marketable job and people skills to become more independent members of society," continued Representative Dwyer.
The charity was one of nearly 80 U.S. nonprofits submitting a two-minute or less video outlining their mission while articulating how a technology upgrade would benefit their organization. The contest took place on Toshiba's corporate social responsibility Facebook portal, Toshiba for Good.
NuPath receives a prize package of Toshiba products and services including a new e-STUDIO3040CTM multifunction product, all-in-one desktop computer, Protégé® laptop, LED HDTV, CAMILEO® camcorder, ExciteTM tablet, memory cards and even energy-saving LED light bulbs to help them reduce costs, streamline operations and conserve resources.
"Throughout our history, the ethos of Toshiba has always been one that places a significant priority on improving the lives of individuals and families within the communities we work and live," said Bill Melo, vice president of marketing, services & solutions at Toshiba America Business Solutions, Inc. "We are delighted to provide our latest technology to such a deserving nonprofit as NuPath; enhancing the organization's mission to serve a population that is traditionally underserved."
Said Dan Harrison, chief operating officer at NuPath, "Suffice to say, our team is ecstatic about receiving this considerable array of technology equipment from Toshiba. As a result of upgrading our technology infrastructure, we are better able to focus our time and resources on providing the developmentally disabled with the skills and - perhaps more important - dignity they deserve to live rewarding lives."
