Toshiba America Business Solutions, Inc. (http://business.toshiba.com) today delivered $102,000 worth of  new technology to Grayslake, Ill. animal rescue and adoption center, Save-A-Pet.  The nonprofit received the technology windfall for winning the second annual Toshiba Helping the Helpers Technology Makeover contest.

Save-A-Pet celebrates its good fortune with a ribbon-cutting ceremony taking place at its headquarters tomorrow at 6 p.m. CST.  To commemorate the event while celebrating the good works of Save-A-Pet and other area nonprofits, Grayslake Mayor, Rhett Taylor is delivering a proclamation declaring Helping the Helpers Day throughout the city.

"To celebrate the great works of nonprofit organizations in our community such as Save-A-Pet, I am delighted to declare Helping the Helpers Day in Grayslake," Taylor stated.  "This day recognizes organizations promoting the common good within our city to help those needing a helping hand, caring heart and compassionate spirit.  By offering quality care for rescued cats and dogs, Save-A-Pet is instituting such change by providing a second chance for these animals within our community."

The charity was one of nearly 80 U.S. nonprofit organizations submitting a two-minute or less video onto Toshiba's corporate social responsibility Facebook portal, Toshiba for Good.  In a nationwide vote on Facebook - the American public selected Save-A-Pet as the grand prize winner over four other finalists. 

The nonprofit receives Toshiba products and services that includes two e-STUDIO^TM multifunction printers, five all-in-one desktop computers, Protégé^® laptop, 50-inch LED HDTV, CAMILEO^® camcorder, two Excite^TM tablets, telephone system, memory cards and 50 LED lights to better conserve energy and streamline operation costs for the nonprofit.  Save-A-Pet also receives Toshiba's award-winning Encompass^TM Analysis, which will assist in optimizing their print fleet while providing a security assessment and green analysis.

Save-A-Pet provides a safe haven for abused, neglected, injured, lost, or potentially euthanized animals.  The organization doesn't place a limit on the amount of care it provides for an animal while providing rescued dogs and cats the greatest opportunity for a second chance.

It is also one of the largest no-kill rescue centers in Lake County, Ill. and one of the few operating a full-time adoption center in the greater Northern Chicago area.  As a result of the nonprofit organization's efforts, more than 40,000 cats and dogs have been successfully adopted.
