Cleaning and Disinfecting Toshiba Devices

Ken Hiteman Ken Hiteman / March 20, 2020

Our moms warned us germs were everywhere, and on everything we touched. Toilet seats, door handles, plane tray tables.

If it didn’t sink in before, the COVID-19 pandemic certainly has driven home the point. Now we even think about touching money, our cell phones and gas pump handles.

Other high-traffic areas are touch screens in office space. Because Toshiba multifunction devices are commonly located throughout the work environment and used by multiple people, one immediate solution is to use a stylus.

In addition to handwashing and hand sanitizing efforts, here are some tips on how to keep your Toshiba devices germ-free:

Device Cleaning Process Dos:

• Turn off your machine.

• Use an alcohol-based cleaner with a minimum concentration of 70% alcohol. The CDC recommends 70% concentration. The alcohol we use is a 99% concentration.

• Apply approved cleaner to a soft cloth or use premanufactured disinfectant towelettes.

• Wipe down exterior surfaces of the device. Pay close attention to high-touch areas such as smart panels, lids, trays and keyboards.

Device Cleaning Process Don’ts

• Do not use ammonia-based or chlorine-based cleaners.

• Do not apply liquids directly on devices.

Toshiba Recommendations

Toshiba devices, including washable touchscreens, are designed to withstand daily cleaning to minimize the risk of cross contamination.

Device users should also practice good personal hygiene, including frequent hand washing for at least 20 seconds with soap and water, or using alcohol-based hand sanitizers with 60-90% alcohol content.

Other best practices would include using a stylus for the touch screen. The rubber tipped type that work on your phones and tablets should work on Toshiba devices.

Keeping these devices clean and sanitary is important for the health and safety of users, particularly as organizations seek to minimize risk from the COVID-19 situation. To help spread the message print this infographic and post above your Toshiba copiers.
